The "Good Old Boys Club" of lawyers and judges (often their former law office partners) breeds corruption.
Pro se litigants breathe fresh air into the stuffy private club atmosphere of the courts. Unlike lawyers, they have less natural reluctance to expose judicial corruption. “The difficulty in inducing a member of the bar to attack a corrupt judge lies in his natural fear of reprisals in case, through influence, political or otherwise, the lawyer’s efforts prove unsuccessful.” (BORKIN, The Corrupt Judge, (NY Clarkson N. Potter, 1962), p.189).
